On 21 October 2025, Amazon Web Services (AWS) — the cloud platform powering much of the internet — experienced a major outage that affected millions of users worldwide.
Popular platforms like Xero, Snapchat, and Fortnite all reported disruptions or downtime as parts of AWS’s infrastructure went offline.
While many systems slowed or stopped completely, we’re proud to confirm that all EWS-hosted school websites remained fully operational throughout the event.
Our hosting partner, WPStaq, runs on a distributed cloud network designed for stability and resilience. This means if one region experiences issues, traffic is automatically rerouted to keep your school’s website online — without you even noticing a hiccup.
For schools using Xero, you may have noticed delays in sending quotes or invoices during the outage period. These issues were caused by the global AWS disruption and are expected to resolve as services continue to recover.
At Education Web Solutions, we believe reliability isn’t something you notice until it’s tested — and today, it was.
It’s another reminder of why we invest in robust, scalable infrastructure that ensures your digital presence stays live, secure, and supported, no matter what’s happening across the web.
