Protecting the privacy of our students, staff and wider community is important to us.
As part of our commitment to creating a safe and respectful online environment, we’ll now be using Hail’s Image Privacy feature to help protect the privacy of students, staff and community members whenever we share images.
This new technology allows us to continue celebrating learning, achievements and community events while ensuring individual privacy preferences are respected.
What does this mean?
From time to time, you may notice that a person’s face has been protected in an image we’ve shared.
This isn’t an error or a technical issue – it’s an intentional privacy measure that helps us respect the privacy preferences of individuals and families while continuing to share the stories that matter most to our community.
In most cases, the rest of the image remains unchanged, allowing us to celebrate events and achievements while protecting the identities of those who need it.
How will I know when Image Privacy has been applied?
Whenever privacy protection has been applied to an image, you’ll see a small Image Privacy shield displayed on the image.
Hovering over (or tapping) the shield will display a short message explaining that privacy protection has been applied to one or more people in the image.
This lets you know that the image has been intentionally protected to respect individual privacy preferences.
Why are we doing this?
Images shared online can be copied, downloaded and reshared in ways we can’t always control.
By incorporating Image Privacy into our publishing process, we’re taking a proactive approach to protecting the people in our community while continuing to share the moments that celebrate school life.
It’s one more way we’re creating a safe, respectful and responsible online environment for everyone.
